Fire Door Safety & the Importance of Third-Party Certification
NTG Door Solutions, part of NTG England, is our specialist door manufacturing division capable of supplying fire doors ranging from FD30 to FD120 all covered under Third Party Certification.
“Third party certification is vital,” commented David Hallam, Joinery Technical and Certification Manager, NTG England.
“We are certified to supply and manufacture fire doors, assemblies and complete doorsets under the Warringtonfire-Certifire and BM TRADA Q-Mark schemes, both endorsed by the Fire Door Alliance.
“This gives customers confidence that in conjunction with the correct installation and an ongoing inspection and maintenance programme, a fire door will perform exactly as expected in the event of a fire to protect life and property.
“All the fire doors, assemblies and doorsets we manufacture are labelled in accordance with each scheme to ease traceability. All appropriate ironmongery is included in the standard fire doorset package.
“Our products are used in hotels and restaurants, student accommodation, healthcare facilities, private care homes, and in the modular sector. We also cater for large-scale national supply and multi-phase projects, ensuring versatility and reliability for a wide range of industries.”
Customers can also supply fire door specifications for their own designs. Once they have sent their specification to the NTG Door Solutions enquiry team, the technical team will review it to make sure the design complies with the associated certification, including fire door safety regulations. If it doesn’t for any reason, the technical team will show the customer how the original design can be modified so that it does comply.
“An example would be a vision panel may need re-sizing so the door can meet the associated fire certificate, or a change to the customers’ original choice of ironmongery,” David added.
“Working closely with our customers we can help them achieve the aesthetics they would like, whilst ensuring the door meets fire safety certification requirements.
